As we celebrate fatherhood, we look to the Bible to see the responsibility of fatherhood and the importance of teaching the truth of Biblical Christianity and living that truth out in our lives.

Prophecy

In v. 14 of our text, it is clear that Jesus wants us to read and understand the prophecies of Scripture. Regarding the prophecy of Daniel, Jesus says “Let him that readeth understand” (v. 14) Jesus goes on to say, “take ye heed . . . I have foretold you all things” (v. 23) Why is this so important? When we understand the events surrounding the end of the age and the return of Jesus Christ, we live with eternity in mind, rather than living for the “nasty now and now.” This explains our Lord’s repeated exhortations in this discourse: “Take Heed,” (vv. 5, 9, 22, 33) and “Watch!” (vv. 33, 35, 37). Many believers are not taking heed to these signs and they are not watching for the next prophesied event: The rapture of the saints. Are you ready? Are you watching?

Prophecy

In our passage under consideration today, Jesus begins His answer to the questions His disciples asked concerning the destruction of the Temple and the end times. The disciples asked, “When” and “What,” which essentially summarize the essence of prophetical studies. Jesus begins with the signs that characterize the first half of the tribulation period. In all of the instruction Jesus gives, His main thrust for us is to watch out for deceivers and to look up for His glorious appearing. In other words, keep faithful to the truth and be ready for His coming!

Today we remember those who gave their life defending the heritage of America. The heritage and the blessing of America has always been to preach freely the Gospel of Christ and to live for and serve Him. We also look forward the future generations to pick up the banner and to continue the fight.

Prophecy

Before we examine our Lord’s answer to the questions asked by the disciples, it would be helpful for us to have a general understanding of Biblical prophecy. Today, we shall lay a foundation by giving some basic definitions and concepts found in the prophetical scheme of Scriptures. The basic meaning of prophecy is foretelling an event or a series of events. Thus, the words found in the verses above summarize the meaning of prophecy: “when” and “what.”

In the continuing effort to have Jesus put to death, the Jewish religious leaders bring Him before Pilate, the procurator of Judea, since only the Roman government had the authority to declare a sentence of death. Pilate had already treated the Jews with an unholy contempt (Luke 13:1). Pilate’s only loyalty was to Rome, and even that was for his own selfish ends. Jesus is at the end of the illegal trial process, and Pilate is struggling with what to do with Him (John 18:28-19:16). In facing the wicked ruler, the hateful Jewish crowds and the arrogant soldiers, Jesus gives us the example of perfect love and grace, because Jesus was there for their sake! May God help us to learn that example today!

Jesus is arrested in the Garden of Gethsemane and taken before religious leaders. Out texts finds Jesus in the courtyard of Caiaphas, the high priest. The disciples have fled and Jesus is facing the religious leaders, who try Him in a kangaroo court. The outcome is a foregone conclusion, s the decision has already been made to destroy Him (John 11:45-53). Peter follows at a distance. Today, we learn some powerful lessons which help us deal with false accusations, and we also learn how to deal with false accusations, and we also learn how to deal with the temptation to depend upon our own strength as we face persecution.
